Joan Picó, Gold Medal for Wine Merit
On June 12, the DO Valencia awarded our winemaker Joan Picó with the Gold Medal for Wine Merit .
This recognition was made during the celebration of the XIII edition of the Night del Vino DO Valencia , which was held at the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, and in which numerous Valencian wineries, catering professionals, specialized stores and the agri-food trade gathered.
Joan Picó Lozano , 44, has a degree in Chemical Sciences and Oenology from the Universitat de València and Master in Viticulture and Oenology by the International Social Science Council from Paris.
In 1999 he joined Baronía de Turís as Quality Manager, a position he held until 2001, when he became its winemaker and went on to direct all the processes of making the wines of this Valencian winery.
Those of us who know him can highlight his enormous human quality, his passion for his work, his dedication and his professionalism when developing an intense and vital work in the complete renovation of the wines and products from Baronía de Turís.
For him, receiving this distinction has been a “recognition of the work and effort made in recent years in favor of the wines of La Baronía de Turís, something that has made me grow both personally and professionally” .
